Narlene L. Hiers
February 13, 1924 - March 04, 2008
Thunderbolt- Narlene L. Hiers, 84, died Tuesday March 4, 2008 at Hospice Savannah.
She lived all of her life in Thunderbolt where she was a member of the Fireman's Auxiliary, American Legion Post 184, Senior Citizens and Thunderbolt Museum. She was awarded Woman of the Year in 1952. She was also a member of Thunderbolt Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher for adults and sang in the choir. She was retired from Civil Service and was a member of NARFE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Hiers; daughter, Alice Hiers Mullis; son, Steve A. Hiers and grandson, Christopher H. Harrelson.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Hiers Shuman of Thunderbolt; sons, Eugene E. Nancy Hiers, George L. Renee Hiers of Thunderbolt, Carlisle H. Sara Hiers of Coventry, RI; sister, Yvonne Mike Feltovic of Thunderbolt; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday March 7, 2008 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with Reverend Marshall Ray officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, James Hiers, Doyle Mullis, Jay Harrelson, Joel Hiers, Mike Clement and Charlton Riegner. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
